The material for Fanfare for the Return of Shadow is derived from Michael Burritt’s composition Shadow Chasers. Using several of the composer’s rhythmic themes for battery and dispersing them throughout the fanfare. This is a fast paced, exciting work for percussion ensemble.

Program Notes
The material for Fanfare for the Return of Shadow is derived from Michael Burritt’s composition Shadow Chasers. I have used several of the composer’s rhythmic themes and have dispersed them throughout the fanfare. The piece is intended as a celebration of Michael’s return to the Eastman School of Music as their new percussion professor. Special thanks to my new friend Keith Aleo for inspiring me to write a composition for the Interlochen Percussion Ensemble.
