Entourage is the result of a bunch of drummer friends getting together and improvising based on some preset criteria, such as layers of number groupings. It is ultimately an exploration of number groupings through layering and displacement in time. Deeply satisfying for performers and audiences alike!

Program Notes
The idea for Entourage was originally conceived while spending the summer of 2008 playing drum set with my friend Marcus Parker. During our sessions we would come up with several number groupings and layer them over the top of each other. We would also trade off one player at a time and mix each grouping together. We also decided that we could strike any instrument on our drum set that we wanted to, this made it interesting. We eventually had other friends join in on our sessions and this lead me to compose a piece using similar concepts. I titled the piece Entourage because the work is essentially derived from a group of friends getting together and drumming. I view this work is an exploration of number groupings through layering and displacement in time. I hope you enjoy playing Entourage!
