Earthlings (Perc Ens 3)

Written for the Blackearth Percussion Group, Murray Houllif's percussion trio Earthlings explores the sonic landscapes of the moon in four descriptive movements – 1. Exploration, 2. Moonbeams, 3. Footprints and 4. Time & Space. The interactions between the three parts requires three advanced chamber musicians.

Instrumentation
Percussion 1 (vibraphone, snare drum, small triangle, 5 Japanese cup bowls, metal wind chimes, bell tree, drumset (SD, BD, lg.t-t, sm.t-t, HH, ride & crash cymbals), xylophone, 6 large woodblocks)

Percussion 2 (crotales (or bells), marimba, 2 bongos, 4 triangles, 4 suspended cymbals, drumset (same as P.1), tambourine, snare drum, 6 suspended temple blocks)

Percussion 3 (4 pedal timpani, small bass drum, bells, finger cymbals, 5 gongs, 6 almglocken, flexatone, drumset (smae as P.1), plastimba, 3 African log drums (2 pitches each))
