Program Notes
Charles Johnson wrote a number of ragtime and popular music pieces, including Dill Pickles (1906), which was the second ragtime composition to sell one million copies, the first being Joplin’s "Maple Leaf Rag." Dill Pickles became a favorite piece for xylophone players to show off their talents and this arrangement for soloist(s) and band adds another dimension to the performance venue.
