Program Notes
The inspiration for this piece came from my morning drive each day as I traveled an hour to work. From waking up slowly in the morning, rising from my bed and getting ready to leave to driving down the busy interstate, Daybreak encompasses that daily journey. The initial part of my drive was always full of contemplation and thoughts about the upcoming day, which quickly turned into chaos as I entered the interstate. There were always surprises along the way between traffic jams and other hazards. At this point, I'd always be jamming to some kind of progressive rock music to get myself through the hustle and bustle of the highway to a calmer point when the traffic dissipated for a bit. The chaos always comes back near the end of the journey before I reach my destination where I exhaustingly park the car and carry on with the day ahead. I hope you enjoy going on this musical journey as you perform Daybreak.
