Danse Satanique begins with an incantation to the solo Horn addressing the occult forces. The end of this incantation is taken up by the Clarinets in the form of a litany giving rise to depths an evil power symbolized not only by the disorganized thrill of a part of the orchestra but also by the power of the Trombones in glissandi. Soon, the emergence of an evil world - with its reminders of the incantatory theme - is set up and inevitably leads to satanic dance.

Program Notes
Danse Satanique begins with an incantation to the solo Horn addressing the occult forces. The end of this incantation is taken up by the Clarinets in the form of a litany giving rise to depths an evil power symbolized not only by the disorganized thrill of a part of the orchestra but also by the power of the Trombones in glissandi.
Soon, the emergence of an evil world - with its reminders of the incantatory theme - is set up and inevitably leads to satanic dance.
This dance represents the universe of Satan with his demons who, for some, move in all directions, while others assemble the authority and prepare the arrival of the devil. This one makes its only appearance in an organized sound chaos. It is represented by the low brass which confirm its power. The satanic universe takes over again, immersing the listener in this evil spell of malicious irony, extreme sarcasm or even insolence. The theme of the incantation will make one last return, swept by sharp taunts leaving room for the excessive assertion of the satanic world.
