The Charmer has a marked Eastern flavour- redolent of magic, deserts, camels, minarets, even snake charmers (!) or any other image you might conjour up.. But not a description so much, more a memory, a recollection, fading with time or sleep. The accompanying figure in this piece should be constant, almost hypnotic (varying dynamically only when it varies rhythmically), providing a background texture against which the melodies can rise and fall.
