AfterBurn was commissioned by Robert Faub for performance at the 2016 North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial Conference at Texas Tech University (Lubbock, TX), where it received its premiere. It appears here in a new version for vibraphone & marimba. The idea for the piece simply came from the title and the myriad of ways a fire can burn. Daughtrey converted the original work to a percussion duet masterfully, and performers and audience are left with a challenging but rewarding addition to the marimba/vibraphone duo repertoire. This piece would be perfect for any college or professional recital.
