Adagietto for String Orchestra is a musical tribute to the composer’s late mother, who instilled in him a deep love of music as a child. Since this relatively slow piece is melodically and rhythmically simple, as well as being marked dolcissimo, performers in every section of the ensemble can focus on producing a beautiful, rich, warm string tone regardless of the dynamic level.
