  • Notes & Instrumentation

Spring Showers is designed to evoke the sensation of a coming, drenching and then passing of the rain. The steady flow of eighth notes in the piece provide a sense of consistent shower, beginning small, building as instruments are added, and finally quieting down again at the end. Sky and earth connect briefly to give life. Perhaps that is why the sound of rain can be so pleasing.

    Program Notes

How wonderful the sound of rain is. What falls from the sky starts as a single droplet, growing in force as it multiplies into a cascading symphony. Springtime is often filled with this sound and with it comes the renewal of life from the sleep of winter. Grass grows, trees bloom, and flowers blossom, all thanks to this passing gift from the sky.

Spring Showers is designed to evoke that sensation of an approaching, drenching and then passing of the rain. The steady flow of eighth notes in the piece provides a sense of consistent shower, beginning small, building as instruments are added, and finally quieting down again at the end. Sky and earth connect briefly to give life. Perhaps that is why the sound of rain can be so pleasing.
