This medium-tempo pop bossa chart is reminiscent of the music of the Pat Metheny Group. Despite the complex harmonies and challenging syncopated rhythms, this piece has been described as having a light, airy, and “chill” feel to it. The dynamic hook of the bridge is catchy and invigorating, and both players and listeners will find themselves humming the tune. Three solo sections include both optional written solos and chord symbols for players preferring to improvise.

Program Notes
Don’t Look Back is a medium-tempo pop bossa chart that can be performed with as few as fifteen players without use of optional parts. It was originally composed for a jazz quartet comprised of alto sax, organ, guitar, and drums. The Latin rhythm and contemporary harmonies of this piece were inspired by the music of the Pat Metheny Group. The frequent syncopation of this pop bossa lends a laidback feel despite the relatively quick tempo. Written solos are provided for alto sax, trombone, and trumpet, with chord symbols included for optional improvisation.
